The Cameron Peak fire ignited on August 13 on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests near Cameron Pass and Chambers Lake. It is burning in heavy timber stands over rugged terrain. High winds combined with critically dry fuels have been driving fire growth. Evacuations and closures are in place. As of Oct 14th, 2021 it had burned 134,960 Acres and was 56% contained. The cause is under investigation. The estimated containment date is Friday, October 30th 2020.
