It was a perfect weekend for fairweather cross fans as Cross of the North celebrated it's 8th rendition as arguably the best race weekend in Colorado. Races on both Saturday and Sunday were unseasonably warm making for a very dry and loose course at New Belgium. 485 racers finished on Saturday and 394 on Sunday for a grand total of 879. Those totals are down from last year which saw 966 competitors on a weekend with a wide swing in conditions. Northern Colorado/Sothern Wyoming had just over 160 race starts during the weekend.

Here's the BRAC recap. Note the Boulder zing in the first paragraph. That being said, shoutout to everyone that made the drive up. There are a lot of great races in Colorado so we appreciate everyone that made the drive up to the Fort.

There was only one place to be this weekend if you wanted to race your bike - Cross of the North, up in beautiful and sunny Fort Collins. The course was impeccably designed, and had the bells and whistles of an international race. It is always a pleasure to see the effort put into the event. Kudo's to James Scott and the whole team. Nearly 900 starts were recorded over the two days, which is really good these days, especially for races more than 20 minutes from Boulder.

On Saturday, the biggest field of the day was the MM 50+, with 42 riders enjoying the great warm weather. Patrick Gallegos (Full Cycle) took the victory over Christoph Heinrich and Kevin O'Brien (Groove Subaru). The biggest women's field was the SW Open, won by Meredith Miller (Rapha) over Sunny Gilbert and Suzie Livingston (Amy D.) Apparently standing on the trailer with L.G. all day did nothing to sap her leg strength. The biggest junior field was a solid 19 in the JM 13-14, won by BJC's Kalen Brown over Gunner Johnson and Luke Walter.

You can check out your results of choice here.

Sunday was another great day, although the weather started changing near the end as today's snowstorm was moving in. Numbers were a little bit down on this second day of racing, but still a healthy group. A quick perusal of the results gives some interesting tidbits.

BJC took the top four slots, a podium sweep+, in the SM 3 with Vaughn Veenendaal taking the win over Nolan Stephenson, Nick Boni, and Magnus White. They repeated that in the JM 11-12 with Rowan Cattau taking the win over Zane Copeland, Nathan Riemer, and Connor Beshore.

In the SW Open, Suzie Livingston improved on Saturday's performance, taking the win over Meredith Miller and Mia Aseltine (Avout). For a moment, it looked like Rage had half the field as their entire junior women's group rode the SW Open.

I'd like to again thank James, Jason, Paul, and the whole volunteer crew for not only making COTN happen again but keeping it as the crown jewel of NoCo racing. You guys did an amazing job yet again. They attracted racers from 11 states and one republic this year, including but not limited to CA, MT, ID, UT, TX, MO, IL, WA and Boulder.

Please keep in mind that I pulled these via the BRAC results so if you aren't listed, it's probably because they didn't have your city listed for whatever reason.
