The 411

Active recovery -Active recovery workouts are low intensity and low volume workouts in which the goal is to get blood into the muscles that you worked the day before to enhance recovery. In addition, another goal with active recovery is to loosen up stiff muscles.

No reason to do a boring ride like this by yourself.  Come by the Rio on Mondays at 6pm during daylite savings time and share your weekend war stories while you loosen the legs up.   Its a super easy 20 mile ride at about 15mph.  Hangout after for a marg or two.

The Start

The Rio, Monday, 6pm be there. Start Map

Rio Base Mile Ride

The 411

This ride is a great way to start building for the upcoming season and the only way to be ready to survive the Oval ride.

Its your basic base mile ride, cept with a great bunch of people, long, slow and chill (and chilly) .

The Start

This ride starts at the original and legendary Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant on Sundays @ 10:30AM don't be late.

Start Map

The Route

It varies, 2-5 hours depending on who wants to keep riding after the official ride is over

TTH (Tuesday, Thursday Ride)

411

TTH=Tuesday, Thursday and its  a hard season long ride.

Ben sent us this info.

TTH started as a lunch ride for HP workers, and grew to include people from all over FTC.

It leaves at 11:07a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from the Specialized Store parking lot on the corner of Ziegler and Harmony.  There are a handful of different routes we ride, South and East through Windsor, and then North on 257, or South around the Walmart Dist. center (famously called the Wally ride).  Other times we head north through Timnath and around the Bud plant, or up Vine.

It is a fast ride with usually a decent warm-up before things get amped up...but when they do, you best hang on for dear life.  It's a friendly ride, but everyone that shows up knows that it's a full-drop ride, no waiting.

I run a check-in page for those interested in seeing who's showing up that day.  Send me an e-mail, and I'll add you to the list of riders, and you'll get a reminder e-mail every ride day.
The page is here (you need to be on the list to be recognized to check in):

Thanks,

Ben Whitehead

The Start

This is one of the few rides the goes on year round.  It leaves from the Fort Collins Peloton Store at 11:07 on, yep you guessed it Tuesdays and Thursdays. Start Map

The Route

It changes from time to time but I think they have two maybe three routes.  They seem to try and keep it at about an hour and a half.

Saturday Ride Leaving From ProVelo

900AM Start (updated 04/26/2013)

The 411

Looking for a solid Saturday  ride but not quite ready for the Oval, or bored with the Oval course?  This is the ride for you. This is a solid B+ to A pace  ride that does a different route every week.

The Start

This ride leaves from the Pro Velo 100 E. Foothills Parkway
Fort Collins, CO 80525 every Saturday @ 10am in the winter and 9am in the summer. Start Map

The Route

The route changes every week but you can plan on hitting all the classic Fort Collins rides during the course of the year.

The Finish

Changes every week.
This ride is in no way affiliated with ProVelo Bicycles, the E2 Cycling Team or YGR.

The Oval

The 411

The Oval is a cold hard Colorado classic and the best way to spend a Saturday morning.  Plus it will make you pretty fit too.

The Start

Bring your A game to the Southwest corner of the CSU Oval right in front of the Statistics Building. The ride heads out at 10am Saturday mornings  The turnout is solid from early December until the racing starts in March or April.  Start map

The Route

When this ride reaches its maximum distance of 80 miles it has it all. From flat crosswind sections, rollers, power climbs  to the long grinds.  The city limit sign east of Berthoud has become a hotly contested mid ride sprint.  This ride doesnt stop for food, flats, pee breaks or bags of money.  Last year I saw a guy loose a $30.00 frame pump and keep going. Now thats a training ride! Route Map

The Finish

There seems to be some confusion about this.  Some people think hit is at the top of the climb near the Horsetooth Mountain Park and some think it's a sprint to the  speed limit at the end of the descent from the  reservoir on Harmony Road.  From now on lets call it at the speed limit sprint.  This give the climbers a chance to get away and the sprinters a chance to chase them down  Plus its the longer of the two options. Bring the 11 tooth.  Finish map

TOWN (The Other Wednesday Night)

The 411

The TOWN (The Other Wednesday Night) ride is a training ride and will focus on skills and performance improvement. It will be led by experienced riders but is intended to neutralize from time to time to regroup and within reason will be a no-drop ride where riders and racers of all levels can practice pack skills and get comfortable in groups.

The Start

The TOWN ride will depart from Peloton Cycles, 3027 E. Harmony Road, Fort Collins at 530 pm.

The Route

This ride will favor flatter routes and eastern circuits.

The Finish

Changes every week.
