Tom Carter, the event promoter for the Bee Farm Circuit Races (now called Scofflaw Circuit Races), has announced that the races have been canceled for 2016. The series was dealt a major blow early this spring when the owners of the subdivision that Bee Farm passed through would no longer allow it despite having insurance and planning for permits. Plan B was to have a new series called the Scofflaw Circuit Race Series near the base of Rist Canyon, Noosa Yoghurt and Morning Fresh Dairy. This is a great course but is located in the heart of cyclist/Rist resident tension. Time consuming extra effort would need to be made to make this race sustainable. An airtight traffic control plan and resident notifications needed to be put in place but there wasn't time. A miss-step now would guarantee that the residents would shut it and other races down in the future. The race promoter, Noosa Yoghurt, Morning Fresh Dairy and Larimer County are committed to building and maintaining cyclist and resident relationships. Carter plans to continue the Scofflaw series either at this or another location for 2017.
When the City Streets Criterium Series race promoter, Adam Marshall, found out that the community had lost two more weeks of grassroots racing, he put the wheels in motion to fill those dates with the City Streets Crits at the City Streets Maintenance yard. The city immediately agreed to the dates and insurance coverage was expanded by two weeks. His major concern is having enough volunteers to fill 6 weeks of racing. First City Cycling has stepped up to fill many of the positions but they're asking for the community to help fill several other positions.
