Howling Cow Cafe
Howling Cow Cafe opened on July 1st, 2014, adjacent to Morning Fresh Dairy Farm hq, almost exactly a year after the Bellvue Bean closed down. That was a tough year for cyclists who were used to a mid-ride coffee break while doing the Dairy Loop. Lori and Robert Graves, the owners of Morning Fresh, managed to fill the void left by the Bean and then some. Howling Cow offers a comfortable patio with views of the foothills, great coffee, Ummbers IceCream, Noosa Yoghurt, baked goods, and other snacks for cyclists passing by, employees of the dairy, Noosa and Ummbers as well as local residents and those passing by on Highway 287. Shortly after Howling Cow opened, Lori Graves, an avid mountain biker, signed on with YGR as an advertiser flying banners for both Howling Cow and Morning Fresh. Over the past several months, the cafe has undergone a massive remodel that will allow more patrons inside, more seating outside and will provide a much more efficient area for employees to curate delicious drinks and food for their guests. They are open during construction in a popup location nearby. Be sure to stop by the next time you're in the area and tell them thanks for supporting the scene.
Morning Fresh Dairy Farm
Morning Fresh Dairy Farm, nestled along the "Dairy Loop" is a sixth-generation dairy farm located at the base of Rist Canyon, just outside Bellvue. The dairy has been owned and operated by the Graves family since 1894. It's one of the few remaining dairies that will deliver fresh, All Natural, minimally processed milk to your doorstep in glass bottles. Their motto, "24 hours from Moo to You" guarantees you'll be getting fresh milk. MFD is owned and operated by Rob and Lori Graves, the fourth generation of Graveses to run the dairy. The farm covers 2,000 acres,1,200 head of milking cows, and has about 150 employees. It's home to the dairy, Noosa Yoghurt, Howling Cow Cafe and Ummbers Icecream. Lori is an avid mountain biker and one of the original members of Team B.O.B.. She's been supporting the NoCo cycling scene with Morning Fresh and Howling Cow ads on YGR since 2015. Visit their website for great home delivery options, including milk, yoghurt, eggs, honey, cookie dough, juice, granola, cheeses, salsas and more.
Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant
Much like New Belgium Brewing, the Rio is synonymous with Fort Collins cycling. Patrick McGaughran, the owner of all five Colorado Rios opened the first restaurant here in Fort Collins in 1986. He first sponsored an elite road team in 1999. His title sponsorship of that team continues nearly 25 years later and has catapulted riders like Tejay van Garderen, Chad Haga and Mara Abbot into the World Tour. In addition to the elite road team, Pat has advertised on YGR since 2009 (my second advertiser), hosted every single RioSwap, sponsored the Fort Follies, the FoCo Fondo, and several other races that have come and gone. The team currently runs the Frostbite Time Trial. Few if any other businesses have poured more money into the Colorado road racing scene than RioPat. I can't begin to count how many birthdays, anniversaries and other special events my family has celebrated at the Rio in addition the usual FAC. I'm proud to have ridden for the Rio for a few years and appreciate Pat's continued support. Please join me in hoisting a world-famous margarite in honor of the Rio the next time you're on Mountain Ave.
Action Signs
YGR is excited to welcome Randy Lerich and Action Signs back to the YGR family of advertisers. Randy is an active cyclist himself and has ridden bikes all over the world. He started advertising with YGR way back in 2013. They took a little break during the COVID mishmash but are doubling down with their support of NoCo Cycling Community via their YGR advertising and First City Cycling Team sponsorship. Action Signs has done vehicle wraps for Team Rio Grande, Overland Mountain Bike Association, CSU Rams Cycling, First City Cycling, New Belgium, Trek Bicycles, VELO FIX, Recycled Cycles, ProVelo, and many others. Be sure to reach out if you need a vehicle wrap, banners, business signage or other brand services.
Alpine Dental Health
Mick McDill with Alpine Dental Health is among the strongest masters mountain bikers in Northern Colorado (despite the stereotype, he does not ride a Yeti) with strong results at the Leadville 100, BC Bike Race, Breck Epic, and, more importantly, the Sendtown Tuesday night races. He's one of my favorite nemeses on Tuesday nights. I've yet to beat the PR I set while chasing him down Kimmons way back during a Lory Mountain Bike Challenge race. He's a longtime member of the Northern Colorado Grassroots mtb team and a hell of a nice guy. Mick and Alpine Dental Health have been selected as one of the best dentists in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado. This distinction comes from 5280 Magazine and NoCo Style Magazine (voted number one). After helping build a dental practice in the Denver area, Mick moved back to his childhood home of Fort Collins to assume the Alpine Dental Health practice in 2005. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming and his dental degree at The University of Colorado in Denver. If you're in need of a NoCo dentist please consider Alpine and Dr Mick.
Dohn Construction
I'm very excited to welcome Dohn Construction to the YGR family of advertisers. You'll recognize Dohn as a longtime Team Rio Grande Racing sponsor, and you have undoubtedly seen their tents at Bike to Work Day stations for years. They've hosted a company-wide Wish for Wheels build and contributed to the USA Pro Cycling Challenge when it came to town. Doug and Connie Dohn, both avid cyclists, have participated in several charity rides, including the Courage Classic, which benefits Children’s Hospital. Dohn did the buildout of Full Cycle on South College and constructed the Loveland Trek Concept store (now Incycle Bicycles).
Founded in 1992 by Doug and Connie, Dohn Construction set out with the desire to change the general contracting industry by valuing clients, team members, and subcontractors. What started as a small construction company quickly grew as word spread about their philosophy and approach to the construction process.
New Belgium Brewing
Fort Collins cycling and New Belgium Brewing go hand in hand. The idea for the iconic Fat Tire brand was born during a bike trip through Belgium in 1988. In 1991 the first beers were brewed in the basement of a home on Mountain Street. The brand has been supporting the local scene for decades. Everything from donating all funds from Tour de Fat to local cycling nonprofits to hosting Tuesday night shorttrack, Tuesday night cyclocross, Cross of the North and the FoCo Fondo. They were the title sponsor when the Grand Prix of Cyclocross and the USA Pro Cycling Challenge came to town. NBB was the very first advertiser to sign onto YGR back in 2009. I'm proud to call many of their employees my friends and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to continue to fly their banner on the site.
Incycle NoCo
YGR is extremely happy to welcome Incycle Bicycles as its official bike shop and Specialized Bicycles as its official bike and cycling apparel brand.
Incycle Bicycles, a premier retailer of Specialized bikes, moved to Fort Collins in June 2023 and now occupies all three of the former Lee's Cyclery locations in Fort Collins and Loveland. In addition to selling top-quality bikes, Incycle services all brands and proudly sponsors CSU Cycling and the Fort Follies, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the local cycling community.
Stay tuned as Incycle continues to expand its support of the Northern Colorado cycling scene with free clinics, group rides, and other community events.
Bike Sports
What to say about Whitney and Zack Allison with the Bike Sports, Gravel Graceland and FoCo Fondo brands.... The professional gravel racers have been working hard to build their empire while simultaneously lifting the entire Northern Colorado Cycling scene. Their efforts to make cycling and especially gravel riding accessible and welcoming to everyone should be embraced and replicated at events across the country. I'm continually in awe of their positive energy and entrepreneurial spirit. While I'm proud to have their banners flying on the site, I'm even more proud to call them my friends. Thanks for everything you guys do!
Bike Sports is their pro gravel race team and bike fit studio based out of Brave New Wheel. Gravel Graceland is a three-day gravel camp based out of the Fort. The 30-50 mile rides are fully supported and traverse a mix of gravel, pavement, and single track. The FoCo Fondo is Fort Collins' flagship summer cycling event. "A gravel ride, a gravel race, rooted in the insanity of a Fondo with the levity of the Fort Collins community. Whether you’re into racing bikes or all-day bike parties in the open range of Colorado. FoCo Fondo is your adventure."
Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies
Since 1969, Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR) has been an integral part of the Northern Colorado community. What began with one location and four doctors in Fort Collins has blossomed into a network of over 45 specialists across 6 medical campuses in Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Longmont, Lafayette, and Westminster.
These dedicated professionals not only excel in their respective fields but also actively engage with the local cycling community. Dr. Sean Grey, Dr. Michael Rusnak, Dr. Brian Lancaster, Dr. Vischer, and other OCR physicians and staff members are familiar faces at events like the FoCo Fondo, local Tuesday night races, the Leadville 100, weekly group rides, area trailheads, and even as coaches for youth cycling teams like the Wolfpack. Dr. Chris Stockburger, a former professional racer with Toyota United, boasts victories in several junior national championships and serves as a coach for the Wolfpack. On the other hand, Dr. Rick Morgan brings international experience, having worked as a team doctor with European squads such as EF Education, Hincapie, and Chipotle.
Beyond individual achievements, OCR actively supports the cycling community by sponsoring organizations like the Wolfpack, the Northern Colorado Mountain Bike Festival, and the Old School Industries Cycling Team.
Remember, don't hesitate to contact OCR in the unfortunate event of a crash or grappling with a persistent injury. They're here to ensure you get back moving like you used to and riding pain-free.
Mike Weber- Red Team Homes
Mike Weber has lived in the Fort since he was six, has been riding mountain bikes in Northern Colorado since 1985, and has been selling homes here since 2002. He became a fan of the site when it was launched and became an advertiser shortly after. You'll recognize his name as a calm voice of reason and education on many of the local cycling forums offering trusted trail condition updates and well-thought-out etiquette tips. He's a former member of the Fort Collins Bicycle Advisory Committee, Fort Collins Natural Areas Land Conservation and Stewardship Advisory Board, a Larimer County Open Space Volunteer Ranger Assistant and is a Diamond Peaks Mountain Bike Patroller, and board member of the Overland Mountain Bike Association. If Fort Collins had a cycling hall of fame, Mike would be among the first to be inducted.

GroundScapes Fort Collins
Chris Urbauer sold his successful landscape company in Lincoln, Nebraska, and moved to Fort Collins with his family in 2013. He used his strong midwestern work ethic and no-BS attitude to rebuild his business in Northern Colorado. GroundScapes handles all commercial and residential landscape maintenance types, including lawn mowing, snow removal, lawn rehabilitation, aeration, and sprinkler system installs and repairs. You'll notice these are things that you, as a cyclist, don't want to waste your riding time with. Why not let Chris and his crews handle it instead?
Much like Matt Skrdla and SPEX, Chris and I most likely raced each other back in Nebraska in the late 1990s during the golden age of the Psycowpath MTB series. Yes, Nebraska actually had/has a great mountain bike series. I think it's still going strong as the Nebraska Off-Road Series. We haven't found any photographic evidence that we raced each other but the dates line up. Chris also has an unhealthy obsession with vintage mountain bikes. He has over 80 bikes from the 1980s and 1990s and has traveled all over the country to pick them up. His collection includes frames from Cook Brothers, Bruiser, Cunningham, Fat Chance, Yeti, Bridgestone, Klein, Manitou, and Clark-Kent. He even has a rare, Fort Collins produced, Vertabra.
Trailcraft Cycles
Trailcraft Cycles was started here in Fort Collins in 2014 by Brett and Ginger Rosenbauer, with their two children as the catalysts for the brand. Brett was working sales at Niner and wanted a high-performance bike for his son so they could share their passion for riding. Unable to find the perfect bike, Brett began designing, prototyping, and eventually selling bikes that bore the names of the trails they were tested on. It wasn't long before Brett quit his job at Niner and joined Ginger, running Trailcraft full time. Each Pineridge, Maxwell, Bluesky, and Timber is assembled and packaged by the Rosenbauers and their employees in their southwest Fort Collins headquarters. I have seen the enjoyment level for cycling skyrocket since all three of my kids began riding Trailcrafts. Having a lightweight, well-fitting bike with brakes they can use, gears they can shift, and suspension dialed to their weight makes a huge difference in their confidence and enjoyment (which increases my enjoyment). If you are a family that mountain bikes together, I highly encourage you to consider adding a Trailcraft or two to the fleet. I would also like to thank the Rosenbauers and Trailcraft for supporting the YGR Kid's zone page.
