We last crossed paths with the Grant family through Owen. This time, it’s his dad, Pete’s turn. Pete Grant has called Fort Collins home for more than 20 years and has long been a fixture in the local riding community. He is a dedicated mountain biker, a skier when conditions allow and even when they don’t, and the owner of Redbird Carpentry, where he has been self employed for more than three years.

Beyond riding, Pete has given back to the community through service on the Overland Mountain Bike Association board of directors and remains active with the Sendtown Bike Club.

Pete’s 10 Tracks playlist functions as a mental soundtrack rather than something reserved for a single activity. It follows him while riding, skiing, and daydreaming. His taste in music is shaped by a lifetime of influence, from oldies and Motown played by his dad to the bluegrass and acoustic music his wife keeps in rotation at home.

Choosing a favorite bike is not something Pete is interested in doing. His favorite is usually the one he is riding that day. A typical local ride starts with Timber and Kimmons, links into Hucka Yucca, and finishes with Valley to Porter for a solid Horsetooth loop.

Like many before him, Pete was drawn to Fort Collins by easy access to the mountains, a laid back college town feel, and the weather, though the poor ski conditions some seasons have probably tested that decision. He takes his coffee black, favors a good pour over, and lately has been spending more time with espresso, the finer the grind the better.

His 10 Tracks are below.
