Sugar Beets 2019 jersey

Sugar Beets Cycling Team began in late 2017 with two lady shredders who shared a dream to grow the sport of women’s bike racing in Northern Colorado. The Sugar Beets’ goal through community events, rides, and clinics—is to empower more women to compete in the sport of cycling by breaking down real or perceived barriers, lead, and inspire by example.

Our team members race in the Pro / Elite fields in mountain, road, and cyclocross. In our first season our original 5 members boasted THE 2018 Colorado XC MTB State Champion, the Cat 3 Colorado Hill Climb State Champion, came away with numerous XC wins in the rocky mountain region, a Top 10 finish in USAC XC Marathon Nationals, and Top 20 finishes with 9 entries in the national Epic Rides series. We raced over 60 times, achieved 29 podiums, competed in 6 states, organized monthly women’s rides, short track clinics, a  mountain bike race clinic, and over 80 volunteer hours!

We can’t wait to show you what 2019 will bring! We will continue to show women how racing builds confidence and give back to our community! The Sugar Beets plan to race the USAC XC Nationals, Colorado State Championship XC series, Epic Singletrack Series, Rocky Mountain Race Series, 12 Hours of Mesa Verde, Steamboat Stinger, and more. This spring we’re leading a progressive road ride series focusing on skills for beginner women with a road race skills clinic in March. We’re planning “Beet Roots”, a youth mountain bike program along with OMBA, for the summer. Then this fall look for our skills clinics in cyclocross and mountain biking along with mountain bike group rides this fall.
