The jury in the Ollie Stratton trial announced their verdict today. After roughly 3 hours of deliberating, the six-member jury found Amy Weiss, guilty of Careless Driving Resulting in Death.

Weiss, the driver who hit and killed Ollie on August 2nd, 2023, pled guilty to tampering with physical evidence earlier this month. Just four minutes after she hit Ollie, she deleted a text thread that she was active in at the time of the crash.

In Colorado, the maximum sentence for careless driving resulting in death is one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. This is a class 1 misdemeanor traffic offense. Other penalties include 12 points against a driver’s license and a one-year suspension of the driver’s license.

In Colorado, the maximum sentence for tampering with physical evidence of a misdemeanor crime is up to 364 days in jail and up to $1,000 in fines. This is a class 1 misdemeanor.

Sentencing will be on March 7th, 2025.
