I’m super excited about this post-  our buddy Jim Dickerson is a world champion!

Dickerson, 71, won the men’s 70–74 individual time trial at the 2026 UCI World Championships in Niseko, Japan, yesterday. He covered the pan-flat 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) course in 20:58.37, finishing about 12 seconds ahead of second place.

Fun fact: Dickerson has held a racing license every year since 1975(!), except for the year his daughter Janna was born. He has won four national championships in the individual time trial, a national title in the track team pursuit, and podiumed at road nats several times.

It was his second trip to Worlds. He finished second in his first attempt last year.

Dickerson and his daughter Janna are regulars at the YGR Time Trials. Janna has also completed all 11 FoCo Fondos.

Cycling is very much a family affair. Jim’s wife, Dot, is also an active cyclist (riding Rist Canyon as I write this), and his other daughter is Emma; I think she’s down in Flagstaff.

Dickerson managed The Bike Broker for about 20 years where the Steak-Out Saloon is now. He later went back to school and spent 20 years working for HP before retiring in 2020.

Congrats Jim!
