Another MyCycle build is in the books, and 260 local elementary students are rolling into the school year with new rides!

Thanks to 138 grassroots donations totaling $27,990, the 2026 MyCycle Team Challenge supplied brand-new Retrospec bikes and matching helmets to second graders across six Poudre School District elementary schools:

  • Bauder Elementary

  • Harris Elementary

  • Irish Elementary

  • Laurel Elementary

  • Linton Elementary

  • Putnam Elementary (plus a dedicated fleet build for Putnam 5th graders)

While the Team Challenge relies on the competitive generosity of our local cycling community, typically accounting for more than a third of the campaign’s total funds, critical corporate contributions help carry the build over the line. Combined with major support from Scheels to source the Retrospec bikes and lids, our community has now placed more than 1,800 bikes underneath PSD students since 2020, putting us on track to blast past the 2,000-bike milestone in 2027.

Huge credit goes to Mike, Tim, and the entire Bike Fort Collins crew for steering logistics, build-day staging, and parts management, alongside every volunteer who showed up to assemble each and every bike.

2026 Team Challenge Winners

The Team Challenge featured two distinct competition categories.

  • Total Bikes Funded: Poudre Sunrise Cyclists took the overall crown, raising $6,900 to fund 24.6 bikes.

  • Roster Percentage: Breakaway Cycles claimed the efficiency title, funding 8.18 bikes with a 9-rider roster for a 90.9% funding rate ($254.44 per rider).

Alpine Dental Health

Mick McDill with Alpine Dental Health is among the strongest masters mountain bikers in Northern Colorado (despite the stereotype, he does not ride a Yeti) with strong results at the Leadville 100, BC Bike Race, Breck Epic, and, more importantly, the Sendtown Tuesday night races. He's one of my favorite nemeses on Tuesday nights. I've yet to beat the PR I set while chasing him down Kimmons way back during a Lory Mountain Bike Challenge race. He's a longtime member of the Northern Colorado…
