This week we’re sending out a farewell 10 Tracks to our pal Kevin Osberg. After 15 years in the Fort, Kevin and the fam are moving to SoDak at the end of the month. Most of you roadies know Kevin as a steady wheel on TTH, the Oval and Worlds but he also hits the gravel and MTB whenever possible. Kevin came to us from Lincoln and had been an Electrical Engineer with LSI/Avago/Broadcom for the past 12 years. He recently picked up a remote gig that allows him to work from wherever and more specifically the Black Hills.
Favorite Bike? Always the next one. A close second is whichever one I happen to be riding.
Favorite Ride? Solo – Masonville, Buckhorn, Stove Prairie, Rist loop
Group – TTH was a ride I completely based my work schedule around for years. Absolute great group to get fast at lunch. The Oval was my white whale. I really loved and hated that ride.
Preferred style of riding? I really love all the different disciplines. I spend the most time on the road bike. My roots are in mountain biking. I’ve really started to enjoy the TT and learning the art and skill involved. Getting way out there with the gravel bike soothes the soul. Hopping on a cruiser and riding to a brewery on a nice day is hard to beat, too.
When do you listen to these? I might be an oddball as I never listen to music while riding. When my kids were younger I usually had some cartoon theme song banging incessantly through my head while climbing.
Now I just listen while riding the trainer in my basement. Typically I just want something with a steady beat and an occasional searing guitar solo for those VO2+ intervals.
