In Colorado, June is designated as Bike Month in order to take advantage of the warm, sunny days that make riding in Fort Collins so enjoyable. Several events are scheduled throughout the month, concluding with Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 25. So mark your calendar, grab your bike and join us this month as we celebrate Bike Month!

Bike Month Events

Bike Month Kick Off Ride

Monday, June 2 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Oak Street Plaza   

Join FC Bikes as we kick off Bike Month!  Starting at Oak Street Plaza, we’ll take a leisurely ride down the Mason corridor, through CSU on the new trail and back to Old Town on part of the Open Streets route.  We’ll culminate at Coopersmith’s and enjoy some appetizers after the ride. Bike Month Proclamation

Tuesday, June 3 at 5:30pm at City Hall

Join us in celebrating biking in Fort Collins for the official proclamation of June as Bike Month. At 5:30pm on Tuesday, June 3, the Mayor will officially declare June 2014 as Bike Month. 


Silver Spokes Ride

Wednesday, June 4 at 11:00am at Rolland Moore Parking Lot

Bike with new friends to lunch and back. Trained cycling instructors will monitor during ride and give safe riding tips. Meet in the Roland Moore parking lot behind the Senior Center. Less than 10 miles round trip. Bike In Movie: With My Own Two Wheels

Wednesday, June 11 at 5:00pm at Gardens on Spring Creek

Attend the Mindful Movies & More presentation of With My Own Two Wheels, which weaves together the experiences of five individuals into a story about how the bicycle can change the world-one pedal stroke at a time. For many Americans, the bicycle is a choice. For countless others across the globe, it is much more. Mindful Movies are free and sponsored through a partnership with the Poudre River Library District, City of Fort Collins Environmental Services Department and Colorado State University. 43 min.


If you’d like to travel to the movie with others, plan on meeting up at the Bike Library (on Mason between Maple and Laporte) at 4pm in order to depart at 4:15 for the Gardens.   

Women’s Learn 2 Ride! Series
Saturday, June 14 from 10:00am to 12:00pm, Location Rocky Mountain High School

Whether you’re 18 or 80, it’s not too late to learn to ride a bicycle! Learn 2 Ride! (L2R) is a free women-oriented, 2-hour class for adults (+14 years) interested in learning how to ride. Through a safe, easy, and effective method, L2R students learn how to balance, pedal, start, stop and steer a bike. You will also learn how to properly fit a helmet. Most people learn to ride a bicycle while taking the class, and we’re confident you will too! You will leave with a new set of skills and access to the resources you need to continue to improve.


A bicycle and a helmet are required. Don’t have one? Don’t worry! Just note in your registration that you need a helmet and/or a bicycle and we’ll provide it for you.

National Get Outdoors Day

Saturday, June 14 from 9:00am to 3:00pm

Get Outdoors Day is a fun, FREE, active day with a zillion things for everyone to do! National Get Outdoors Day NoCo, presented by the University of Colorado Health, will be held in Fort Collins at City Park. Fish, bike, garden, climb, paint, build, paddle, learn, dance, eat and play! Take part in interactive activities in each of Get Outdoors Day’s different villages! 

Visit the Bike Fort Collins Village where there will be a bike rodeo for kids, you can have your bike checked or you can spin the wheel of fortune to win a prize


27th Annual Bike to Work Day

Wednesday, June 25 from 6:30am to 9:30am with stations located all over town

Mark your calendars for another great Bike to Work Day!  Fort Collins’ Bike to Work Day is a biannual event to encourage people to bicycle for transportation, experience the benefits of riding a bike, highlight Fort Collins’ extensive bike routes, and demonstrate that bicycling is an easy, fun and healthy means of traveling around the city.

The National Bike Challenge is a nationwide event uniting thousands of current bicyclists – and encouraging countless new riders. It is a free and easy way to challenge yourself, colleagues and the greater community to ride more. Users compete on a local, state and national level. Weekly Ride Sally Rides! 

Thursday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Ride, Sally Rides (RSR) are a weekly opportunity for women to get together and spend time in the saddle. We are not a new bike club. We are riders, racers, students, moms, locals, visitors, and friends who want to pedal together on Thursday evenings. This is simply a weekly excuse to branch out of our social networks to experience new rides and new people in and around Fort Collins.
