The citywide holiday known as the Tour de Fat is coming up on Saturday the 3rd.  Tour de Fat is New Belgium Brewing’s traveling celebration of all things bicycle, honoring humankind’s greatest invention. Born here in Fort Collins, to increase awareness and participation in cycling as a sustainable form of transportation, Tour de Fat has grown into a national rite of passage for cycling advocates and bon vivants alike.

Join thousands of your friends for a costumed bike parade and nationally touring and locally loved musical acts, peppered with interactive fun like a 1,000 Person Dance Contest (to win a bike!) a Slow Ride competition (how slow can you go?), and the inspirational car-for-bike swapper series in which brave souls hand over their car keys and commit to commute by bike.

One of the best parts about the Tour is that it benefits some great local bike nonprofits like Bike Fort Collins, The FC Bike Co-op, Overland Mountain Bike Club and Ciclismo Youth Foundation.  Here’s the kicker, it takes hundreds of volunteers to make this thing happen.  If you’d be willing to support the event rather than just ride it, your help would be much appreciated.

As you likely know, Tour de Fat Fort Collins lands this weekend and as you also probably know, TdF is the biggest fundraiser for 4 great local bike nonprofits.  We are trying to shore up our volunteer support and make sure we have a big enough team to make it a great experience for everyone.
