The Colorado High School Mountain Bike League kicked off this weekend in Leadville with the Cloud City Challenge. Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming had dozens of kids racing in the Platte Conference (one of four state conferences). Fort Collins area kids raced either independently or with Rocky Mountain High School, Fossil Ridge High School, Fort Collins High School, and Horsetooth Composite (riders from different high schools who didn’t have enough riders for their own teams.) Wyoming kids raced Natrona, Laramie, Kelly Walsh, and Cheyenne. You can see their results below. I’m trying to find out why Loveland riders weren’t listed.

There were a total of 371 racers on Saturday in the Platte Conference. Hundreds more raced in the Cyrstal, Yampa and Piedra conferences at other times during the weekend. The season continues with racing in Eagle- Sept 10th, Steamboat- Sept 25th, Nathrop- Oct 8th on wraps up during the weekend of Oct 22 and 23rd with the State Championships in Glenwood Springs.

  • More information on the league can be found here.
  • Information on joining a team can be found here.
  • Complete results can be found here.

Although results don’t paint a full picture of how fun and successful the weekend was for these kids, it’s the only real metric I have to work with so they are listed below. Congrats to everyone that raced and to those that ended up on the podium.
