Five Northern Colorado racers took part in the road race, criterium and/or individual time trial at the USA Cycling Road National Championships this week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Racers were roughed up by brutal Midwest heat, humidity, and winds throughout the week. Racing started on Saturday and wrapped up Wednesday.
11-year-old Cameron Krause raced his first National Championships and competed in all three events in the Boys 11 to 12 age group, while former road and gravel National Champion Joe Zukowski raced in the road race, criterium, and time trial in the Boys 15 to 16 category. Michael Williams, former National Champion, competed in the Men 60 to 64 road race and time trial, and yep, former National Champion Jim Dickerson raced in the Men 70 to 74 road race and time trial, and Jordan Nelson lined up for the Men 35 to 39 road race.
