Fort Collins, CO
Mission Statement: “To cultivate amateur cycling development in Northern Colorado”
Fort Collins based Scout Cycling, a ½ development squad, has revamped its roster with more local talent along with a new local title sponsor (the team operated as Butler Cycling in 2015).
Scout App is an application monitoring services firm based in Fort Collins, operating across the U.S. In addition to Scout, the team has former title sponsor Butler Manufacturing returning as the presenting sponsor along with fellow returning sponsor’s proVelo, Source Endurance, Spex Vision Care, White Buffalo Kitchen, Peritus Coffee Roasters while maintaining team status under the First City Mortgage Group Cycling Team club. Additional new sponsors include Cannondale Bicycles, Mavic, Chamois Butter, and Castelli Clothing.
The roster returns Grant VanHoose, Nate Taggatz, Kevin Tempel, Nate Prewitt, Matt Kotarbinski, Will Nabours, and Master Splinter aka Dr. Matt Skrdla. New team riders include new and old faces in the community, Logan Vonbokel, Ben O’Malley, Owen Hatcher, Andre Szlendak and Tony Olson.
For the 2016 season, the team will be targeting the amateur side of four National Race Calendar events: Joe Martin (Arkansas), Tour of the Gila (New Mexico), Tulsa Tough (Oklahoma) and the Cascade Cycling Classic (Oregon). Additionally, rosters will be present at Valley of the Sun (Arizona), Tucson Bicycle Classic (Arizona), and Gateway Cup (Missouri) to round out the out of state calendar. The team will look to take podiums at all BRAC events that do not collide with the four targeted NRC events, in particular the hometown CSU weekend, Superior Bismarck, Littleton Twilight, Steamboat Springs Stage Race, along with state championships.
The team will again be owned and managed by rider Grant VanHoose, operating through Fort Collins Sports Management, LLC. In addition to new sponsors and riders, for the first time, the team has an advisory board that includes Dan Porter, Dr. Matt Skrdla, Brett Rindt, Kevin Tempel, and Grant VanHoose (5th member for voting purposes). Through updated management and advising practices, the team is striving to further be a staple in the cycling community to best represent Fort Collins.
