Hopefully you've heard enough by now that you're already committed to this year's festival. If not, you're mind will surely be changed after perusing this info-packed newsletter. If you are planning to attend, this will have everything you need to know and why you should pre-register. Sign-ups for all events are on the primary event website - nocomtbfest.com
Beer & Wine:
Beer is being provided by Fat Tire (Fat Tire & Fat Tire White) and wine has been custom blended specially for the event with Blendings at the Preserve (white & red options available). And...with the purchase of an OtterBox tumbler, you will have free access to these beverages from 11am-6pm. That's right...all-you-care-to-drink beer and wine for only $20...and you get your choice of a 16oz or wine tumbler to take home. Sign up early and you even get a choice of color. This also helps to greatly expedite the check-in process at the event. We do ask that everyone be responsible with their beverage consumption.
Get your OtterBox Tumbler and beer & wine access here!
Poker Ride Details & Prizes:
It's certainly not a race, but it is a really fun way to get out and explore the sweet singletrack of Lory State Park! And...check out this list of prizes that will be available:
We'll have 5 primary card stations scattered throughout the Valley Trails where you'll ride up and select a card at each. There will likely be 2 bonus card stations for those looking to put in a bit more effort and explore a few more trails. The person with the best 5-card hand at the end of the event will have first selection from the prize pool. We will go down the line in order of best hand until all prizes have been selected. Cost to enter is $10.
And...the good folks at Brave New Wheel and Road 34 will be leading group rides to the event from their respective shops. This gets you a few more miles on your bike and reduces our parking impact at Lory. All those participating in these group rides will get an additional bonus card for the Poker Ride as well!
Pre-register for Poker Ride here...and make the check-in process at the event MUCH easier!
Take-a-Kid Mountain Biking Day:
Bring your kids out to the festival too for a fun morning of mountain biking with our annual Fall edition of IMBA's International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day! This free event is open to kids of all ages and abilities, and will run from roughly 9:00 to 1:00, with a pizza lunch included. Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is hosted by Overland Mountain Bike Association, with generous sponsor support from Scheels. This event will create great memories for you and your children while encouraging an active lifestyle. It encourages kids to put down the video games and hop on their bikes and have a great time riding local trails and learning trail etiquette. Kids and parents are encouraged to take part in the additional festival activities as well!

Clinic curriculum is listed on the sign up page...and, here's another perk of signing up...
Bike Demos & Equipment: Courtesy of Scheel's, registered participants are able to demo a bike for free for the entire clinic, as part of the Northern Colorado MTB Festival. Participants who demo bikes will need to confirm prior to the event and arrive early on Saturday morning.

Volunteer and get a free event t-shirt!!!
A great event like this can't happen without great volunteers...and we still have MANY spots still available! We need people checking in attendees for the different events, poker ride card dealers, parking hosts, beer service, and a few others. Volunteer positions were planned to allow everyone to still participate in the poker ride if they like and be around for the music.

For those looking to demo a new bike, you'll have some great options! We'll have the following bike brands on hand for attendees:
Bike demos will be available from 9:30-4. Duration of each demo will be limited due to expected high demand. No pre-registration is needed.
Also, Overland members can get a demo bike FREE from REI-Fort Collins for the entire weekend! REI is not able to be onsite for the event, unfortunately, but they are offering this awesome perk as a way to support your efforts as a volunteer and as an Overland member! Bikes can be reserved and picked up on Friday, 9/27 by contacting the store directly. REI's support is greatly appreciated!
It can't be a festival in Fort Collins, Colorado without some seriously good music! And we deliver on that too!
The Sugar Britches - Sugar Britches are the dynamic duo of Brian Johanson & Josh Long, singing high-brow honky-tonk w/ eclectic guitar & clever lyrics.
Maxwell Mud - Drawing inspiration from Rock and Roll and Blues music, Maxwell Mud delivers a sound as American as the Ford Mustang. A trio of seasoned musicians from the Midwest who produce a rich, high-energy sound to go along with their sharp-dressed image. They are quickly gaining acclaim for their unrelenting Rock and Roll and classic style and are catching the attention of Rock and Roll purists everywhere they play.
Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams - With an unapologetic embrace of the twang, Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams ride out from the cutting edge cowtown of Denver, Colorado. Rootsy and real, neither revivalist nor retro, the Hi*Beams' brand of country music is as boundless and electrifying as America itself. From Red Rocks to rodeos, the Fillmore Auditorium to the back of a flatbed truck, to Prairie Home Companion, Kate Wolf Festival, and performing arts centers, Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams deliver an unforgettable and original night of American music.
Road 34 After-Party:
If all of the above still isn't quite enough for you, well then head on over to Road 34 after the event. The live music continues with King Crawdad. Road 34 will be donating a portion of select beer sales to further support Overland's trail efforts!
2019 Northern CO MTB Festival Tentative Schedule:
Due to rising permit costs at Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park, the Tooth or Consequences enduro style mountain bike races have been canceled for 2019. The Nothern Colorado MTB Festival will take it's place. Read on for specific information provided by the Overland Mountain Bike Association.
The Tooth or Consequences MTB Festival has a new name! And a change to the event. Due to the very high costs associated with hosting this race event on local trails, we have decided to cancel it for this year. Future race event options are being considered and pursued if they are cost-effective. This event is a fundraiser for our local trail building, maintenance and advocacy efforts...making this change is our only option at this point.
The newly named Northern Colorado MTB Festival is an event you do not want to miss! Similar to last year's event, we will have our annual Take-a-Kid MTB'ing Day which is again sponsored by SCHEELS, bike demos from local bike shops, poker ride, bike skills contests & exhibitions. The vendor expo will allow attendees to meet and interact with multiple local businesses. Food trucks and cold delicious beer from New Belgium Brewing will be available. With very generous support from the Bohemian Foundation, we will also have live music from 3 local bands all afternoon...music lineup will be announced soon!
We will update the new event website as soon as possible, but please watch for additional updates and event timelines in future newsletters and on social media.
