This week’s 10 Tracks DJ is Katie Kantzes, a current(?), former(?), future(?) professional gravel racer (she def paused her gravel racing for a bit) and one helluva baker. Katie is originally from Wilmington, Delaware, and came to the Fort via Austin, Texas. Near as I can tell from the few group rides I’ve done with her, she has a ridiculous strength-to-weight ratio.
She’s been in Fort Collins for two years. Katie prefers road riding but is learning to love flowy singletrack on her Allied Allroad thanks to the valley trails at Lory. Her favorite ride is Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.
She listens to her playlist on the trainer, while trail running, commuting, baking, and making pancakes on a Sunday morning.
Her dad influenced her taste in music. The range at home included EDM, rage hip hop, jazz, and classical. Katie played piano for eight years growing up and still has a soft spot for it.
She takes her coffee as a pour over. Lima Coffee Roasters introduced her to good coffee and she says she cannot go back because good beans deserve good treatment.
Katie recently paused professional gravel racing with the Velocio Exploro team to focus on her next career path. She holds a masters degree in epidemiology, has more than a decade of experience in the bike industry, and owns The Bonnie Beinn Bakeshop.
Her play is below.
