After a year of collaboration between City staff and the consulting firm Logan Simpson, a draft of the City’s updated Strategic Trails Plan (STP) is now available for public review. The community is encouraged to weigh in on the plan, which will serve as a roadmap for the future of the city’s paved trail system.

The STP outlines a functional framework for the planning, design, maintenance, and preservation of the trail network, aiming to ensure the system continues to meet the needs of the community as it grows.

Key Goals of the Strategic Trails Plan Include:

  • Evaluating whether the current paved trail system meets community needs, while identifying challenges and opportunities for improvement.

  • Establishing a shared vision for the system’s expansion to support future growth.

  • Promoting transparency in how trail projects are funded, planned, designed, constructed, and maintained.

  • Developing new policies to enhance both current and future trail infrastructure.

The draft plan is now available online for public review. Residents are invited to provide their feedback ahead of the plan’s finalization this summer.

How to Get Involved:

  • Visit the project webpage to access detailed information, including an interactive StoryMap.

  • Download the full PDF version of the draft from the website’s Documents section.

  • Submit your thoughts via this form by Wednesday, April 23.

For assistance in accessing or reading the draft document, residents can call 970-221-6515 (V/TDD: Dial 711 for Relay Colorado) or reach out to the City’s ADA Coordinator at 970-416-4254.

This is a valuable opportunity for community members to help shape the future of the city’s trail system—ensuring it remains safe, accessible, and ready for generations to come.
