E-bike Rebate Returns

WHEAT RIDGE – Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) announced the relaunch of the popular E-bike Rebates later this month. The initial E-Bike Rebate initiative was open from Summer 2023 until funding was fully used by Coloradans in Spring 2025, helping nearly 8,000 Coloradans save more than $9.75 million on e-bike purchases. With a total of $3 million in funding from the Community Access Enterprise for the current fiscal year, CEO plans to provide point-of-sale rebates for qualifying e-bike purchases to more than 2,800 eligible Coloradans over the next year. This funding through the Community Access Enterprise creates an ongoing funding stream to support rebates going forward.

“E-bikes are fun, convenient, reduce traffic congestion, and help Colorado meet our bold clean air and climate goals. I am excited to build on our momentum from a successful initial round of e-bike rebates to offer more savings to Coloradans choosing to purchase an e-bike. Colorado is leading the way by innovating to reduce pollution and give Coloradans more options to get where we need to go efficiently and safely. E-bikes are the future and I look forward to more Coloradans taking advantage of these money-saving rebates,” said Governor Polis.

More than 34,000 Coloradans applied for rebates during the initial run of this initiative. Of those who received a rebate, 89% said they would not have bought an e-bike without a rebate. By replacing an average of 2.85 private vehicle trips per week with e-bike rides, e-bike rebate recipients have avoided estimated annual emissions equivalent to 8.85 million miles driven in a traditional gas-powered car.

“Colorado is committed to reducing pollution from the transportation sector with a holistic approach that makes zero-emission technologies such as e-bikes a viable option for day to day travel,” said CEO Executive Director Will Toor. “Our initial e-bike rebate program was a great success, having a real impact on people’s lives. As demand continues to soar, we are excited to bring back this popular program with ongoing funding so that more Coloradans can enjoy the many benefits e-bikes offer.”

Rebates will be available to people living in Colorado with a household income at or below 80% of the area median income in the county where they live. The standard rebate will be worth $1,000, with extra rebate savings available for e-cargo bike (+$300) and adaptive e-bike purchases (+$300).

Registration for e-bike rebates will open on a quarterly basis over the next year. Each registration round will be open for one week at a time, and Coloradans can register at any time that is convenient during that period. The first round will open August 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM MT and close Monday, August 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM MT. A link to the registration portal will be available on the E-Bike Rebate webpage once registration opens.

Initially, registrants will only need to submit their name and contact information. Once the registration period closes, CEO will randomly select registrants to receive rebates, and then notify selected registrants via email. To confirm eligibility, selected registrants will then have one week to submit proof of income and address. To redeem the rebate, recipients must purchase a qualifying e-bike in-person or over the phone from a participating e-bike retailer. CEO is currently registering retailers with the program and this list of participating retailers will grow as outreach continues. Details about qualifying e-bikes are also available on the webpage.

Rebate recipients may combine the Colorado E-Bike Rebate with the Colorado E-Bike Tax Credit discount, as long as they purchase from a retailer that is participating in both programs. Coloradans who live in cities or counties with existing e-bike rebate programs, such as Denver, may apply for the statewide rebate. However, to ensure that as many Coloradans as possible across the state can access incentives to make e-bikes more affordable, rebate recipients may not combine the state rebate with these local incentives on the same e-bike purchase.
