The Bicycle Master Plan envisions Fort Collins as a world-class city for bicycling. It is a city where people of all ages and abilities have access to a comfortable, safe, and connected network of bicycle facilities, and where bicycling is an integral part of daily life and the local cultural experience.
The City is developing a comprehensive Bicycle Master Plan to shape the future of bicycling in Fort Collins. This plan will build upon all of the great things about biking in Fort Collins and will establish a blueprint for achieving the City’s vision. FINAL DRAFT BICYCLE MASTER PLAN NOW AVAILABLE
Thank you for your involvement in shaping the 2014 Bicycle Master Plan. Staff has revised the Plan and Appendices according to public and stakeholder feedback. The Plan document can be downloaded from this page. Staff will be presenting to City Council on December 16 for their consideration of Plan adoption.
Through data-driven analysis and a comprehensive and inclusive public outreach strategy, the Fort Collins Bicycle Master Plan establishes a bold vision for a world-class city for bicycling, where people of all ages and abilities have access to a comfortable, safe, and connected network of bicycle facilities, and where bicycling is an integral part of daily life and the local cultural experience. The draft Plan includes several appendices where youll find details pertaining to existing conditions, public engagement summaries, existing bicycle programs, bicycle facility design and wayfinding guidelines, and implementation details.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Over the course of 2014, the City of Fort Collins will work with the community to develop a new Bicycle Master Plan for the city. Our recent designation as a http://www.fcgov.com/common/images/external.gif) 100% 50% no-repeat;”>Platinum Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, presents a unique opportunity for the community to help shape a vision and recommendations for growing bicycling and improving safety across the city.
Through data-driven analysis and a comprehensive and inclusive public outreach strategy, the Fort Collins Bicycle Master Plan will integrate existing city plans, best practices and innovative thinking and will revise the City’s proposed bicycle network, wayfinding strategies, bicycle facility design recommendations and guidelines, as well as policy and programmatic recommendations. In addition, a Bike Share Business Plan was developed through this process (more information available here).

The Bicycle Master Plan has been developed over the course of 2014 and will be considered for City Council adoption in December, 2014. Extensive public outreach has occurred throughout the planning process.
Past Events & Outreach
Project outreach kicked off in late-2013. Community input has been gathered through community bicycle rides (FC Rides!), an online survey soliciting over 1,000 responses, an online WikiMap, public open houses, targeted stakeholder events, a stakeholder visioning workshop, presentations to community organizations, City Boards and Commissions, City Council Work Sessions and more. Public outreach will continue through November, 2014.
