A GoFundMe campaign has been established by Alexa Wagner for Rio Grande Elite Cycling’s Alex Marr. Alex crashed heavily during the Redlands Classic this year and sustained serious injuries to his back, pelvis, and head.

On April 25th Alex was racing in the final stage of the Redlands Classic when he crashed into a concrete wall going 50mph. In an attempt to avoid riding over fallen racers ahead of him, Alex swerved only to be thrown over the handlebars headfirst. He sustained serious injuries to his back and pelvis: 3 fractures in the pelvis, a compression fracture in his T5, and multiple lumbar fractures, as well as a concussion and stitches. Alex is now home in Colorado with his family and is beginning physical therapy.
This gofundme has been set up by family members to financially support Alex with his recovery as well as get him back on track to his pro racing career.
While many of the medical expenses have been covered by insurance and his team, Alex will have other costs such as replacing parts of his racing equipment that were damaged in the crash. He will also need funds to cover his rent in Grand Junction while he is at home with his mother and brother, as well as gas money to and from physical therapy. These are only the basic expenses going forward so donations will also go toward things such as audiobooks/entertainment, healthy foods, homeopathic treatments/supplements, or whatever else Alex and his family need during this time to alleviate the financial and emotional burden of his accident.
Please consider donating to help Alex as he is an incredible athlete and human being.
