According to Fort Collins Natural Areas, Bobcat Ridge Natural Area will remain closed until at least the end of August. The following announcement was made today, 08/14/2024

“The Alexander Mountain Fire impacted Bobcat Ridge Natural Areas Ginny and Valley Loop trails and burned trees and shrubs on the west side. Bobcat Ridge will be closed until at least the end of August for trail repair and maintenance. In July, the Alexander Mountain Fire started to the southwest of Bobcat Ridge under extremely dry conditions. With predominate winds pushing the fire northward and westward, fire extended into Bobcat Ridge Natural Area during a moderately active evening, burning small patches of remnant trees mostly in the ponderosa pines that were not burned during the Bobcat Gulch Fire (2000) and the Cameron Peak Fire (2020). Trail work will focus on repairing trail damage from a firebreak line”
