The League of American Bicyclists has announced that Fort Collins has once again earned a Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly Community ranking.

According to the League, Fort Collins was ranked Silver in 2003, again in 2005 and 2007, Gold in 2008, Platinum in 2013, and has retained Platinum ever since, with renewals in 2017, 2021, and 2025.

Only five cities nationwide have ever achieved Platinum status, and just three currently hold it. Those cities are Fort Collins, Davis, California, and Madison, Wisconsin.

Platinum is the League’s highest level of recognition, above Gold, Silver, and Bronze. A Diamond level exists, but no community has achieved it to date.

Colorado State University is also a Platinum-ranked Bicycle Friendly University. CSU first earned Platinum status in 2015 and has maintained the designation since.

In addition, the City of Fort Collins government itself is recognized as Bicycle Friendly Business. The community also has one of the highest concentrations of certified Bicycle Friendly Businesses in the country.

You can learn more about the ranking and see other communities, busninesses and universities on the league’s website.
