Coach Jeremy Norris has the race report from this past weekend’s Colorado High School Cycling League’s regional championships in Nathrop.

This past weekend marked the end of the regular season for high school mountain biking in the Colorado League with regional championships in Nathrop, the last chance to qualify for State Championships in a couple of weeks. This old NORBA course challenged the athletes with high speed racing and sandy climbs and descents under the face of Mt. Princeton. As with the first three races of the season, the NoCo teams rode incredibly and snagged some great results!

Fort Collins High School landed two riders on the podium in Varsity Girls with Alaina Smith in 3rd and Kate Miller in 5th. The Fort Collins girls have set themselves up well for State Champs!

In Varsity Boys, Rocky Mountain’s Andrew Morris took the win with teammate Micheal Delgadillo on the podium in 5th and another Rocky rider, Cole Mcginnis inside the top 10 in 9th.

JV Boys saw Independant(Berthoud) rider Page Liggett continuing to land on the podium finishing 3rd with Rocky Mountain’s Kannon Johnson in 6th not far behind.

Olivia Helherson also found a spot on the podium in Sophomore Girls with a strong ride to 4th.

The usual suspects dominated the Sophomore Boys race with Callen Solley(Rocky Mountain) taking a strong win over teammate Casen Paroz with Zachary Watkins(Horsetooth Composite) on the podium in 4th, his teammate, Nate Lowe, not far behind in 6th. Max Abernathy of Rocky Mountain rounded out the top 10 in 9th. Nate Lowe retains the season leader’s jersey going into state championships.

Rocky Mountain’s Korryne Collins finished second in Freshman Girls also holding onto the overall leaders jersey going into state championships.

Rowan Christiansen of Fort Collins found a podium with 3rd in Freshman Boys.

Rocky Mountain is holding a strong lead in the team standings for Division 2, Horsetooth Composite is sitting 4th. Fort Collins moved into first in Division 3 with Poudre sitting 5th.
The teams only have Colorado League State Championships in Glenwood Springs left to improve athletes’ personal standings, cinch their wins in the team standings, and throw down for a chance at the title of 2023 State Champion! We’re proud of our NoCo riders!
