USA BMX and Twin Silo BMX will host MTB categories this Summer. Races will take place on Monday and Thursday nights from May 1st until August 31st. Twin Silo will host an MTB open specific open house on April 24th.

USA BMX Announcement-

USA BMX and BMX Canada are launching five (5) new classes for Mountain Bikes. Starting on May 1st, 2023, these classes will be available at sanctioned BMX tracks across the US & Canada with the launch of a sanction-driven summer series for Mountain Bikes.

The five classes include an all-inclusive MTB Dirt Jumper class and four age-category classes for traditional MTBs. The series will point and rank riders from May 1st to August 31st in 2023. The classifications will follow the popular USA BMX district points, and riders will accumulate points towards their assigned district at each race they participate in. There will be a special award for the winner in each district for both the Dirt Jumper and Mountain Bike categories.

During the week of April 22nd-29th, 2023, USA BMX tracks are encouraged to host an open house specifically for MTB riders. Find your local track by clicking here.

We are excited to launch this programming and gain feedback to create the highest quality programming for BMX tracks regardless of the wheel size! We continue to look for opportunities within the sport of BMX that allow for additional utilization of BMX tracks. The demand for usage by Mountain Bikes has hit tracks nationwide, and we are happy to welcome new families to the track.

Dates and times? Mondays and Thursdays May 1st – August 31st Registration 5:00-6:00 with racing to follow asap (Later in the summer, we may move registration out an hour to 6:00-7:00 but will keep everyone posted when that occurs)
Equipment required?  Helmet (full-face preferred but not required, long pants and sleeves or knee, shin, elbow guards, close toed-shoes)
Race Day- On race day, the track is open for practice during registration time for participants, so they should arrive with enough time to get registered and warmed-up. MTB riders will have their own set of motos and will run concurrently with our BMX race. Each group will race 3 rounds of total point racing with the lowest score winning and we will award 1st-3rd place. There are breaks between each round. I don’t currently have a great system for pre-registration but a lot of our BMXers will just Venmo us with their rider info. As I get to know the MTB riders, I will let them know this info, but for the first time racer, they can just sign-up at the shed during registration time. We will have volunteers and announcers letting riders know when and where to show up.
