MyCycle 2026: It's On!

The MyCycle campaign kicked off this week, and I’m hoping you’ve already earmarked it as one of the ways you’re going to give back to the community each year. The need isn’t going anywhere, and neither are we. Let’s fund some bikes.

Last year, the Northern Colorado community once again came together to make an incredible impact. Organized by Bike Fort Collins, the MyCycle program brought together cyclists, local businesses, community organizations, and individual donors to help ensure every second grader at Poudre School District’s six Title 1 elementary schools received a brand new bike and helmet. Through the YGR Team Challenge alone, more than $21,000 was raised, funding 107 bikes, while additional community donations helped complete the effort. In total, 266 bikes were distributed, including every second grader at Bauder, Harris, Irish, Laurel, Linton, and Putnam elementary schools, as well as every fifth grader at Putnam Elementary through a pilot program. The Putnam 5th grade pilot program was a success, so we’re doing it again in 2026.

Team B.O.B. led the way by funding the most bikes, while Breakaway Cycles once again claimed the roster percentage title. Every dollar made a difference, and nearly 200 volunteers helped assemble and deliver the bikes, giving hundreds of kids the opportunity to ride home on brand new bikes.

Now it’s time to do it again.

The 2026 MyCycle Fort Collins campaign is officially underway, and once again we’re asking the Northern Colorado cycling community to step up. Every bike funded helps provide a local child with transportation, independence, confidence, and a healthier future. Whether you’re rallying your team for the Team Challenge or donating as a privateer, every contribution moves us closer to putting another bike into the hands of a child who needs one.

The YGR Team Challenge

One of the most exciting—and effective—parts of the MyCycle campaign is the Team Challenge, which was created to rally the entire Northern Colorado cycling community around the cause. With thousands of local riders, from race teams and clubs to weekend gravel grinders and solo commuters, the Team Challenge taps into that energy to help fund hundreds of bikes for local kids. It doesn’t matter if you ride for a structured team or roll solo. Everyone has a place in this effort. The challenge isn’t just about raising money. It’s about building a culture of giving within our cycling community and showing what’s possible when we come together for something bigger than ourselves.

How and Why it Started

What began as a simple idea during the early days of COVID—to get more kids safely riding to school—has grown into one of the most impactful youth cycling initiatives in Northern Colorado. Launched in 2020 by Your Group Ride, Bike Fort Collins, Wish for Wheels, and local supporter Trent Newcomer, the program has now evolved into MyCycle Fort Collins, with Bike Fort Collins serving as the sole nonprofit administering the effort. Since that first round of bikes, the program has provided roughly 300 bikes each year, totaling over 1,600 brand-new bikes and helmets delivered to local second graders. In 2025, we expanded that reach via a pilot program for 5th graders at Putnam. The goal has always been the same: remove barriers to mobility, independence, and joy. A bike isn’t just a toy—it’s a way to get to school, to visit friends, to explore, and to gain confidence. When kids ride more, our whole community gets stronger, healthier, and more connected.
