After 16 years of grassroots racing at the Fort Collins City Streets campus, the local midweek crit scene launched its next chapter Thursday night with the first race of the all-new Stadium Criterium Series—and the new venue delivered.
Despite rain in the forecast and wet pavement throughout the evening, racers showed up in force for Week One of the four-week series, now held at Timnath Middle High School. The .87-mile course wound through smooth, wide roads surrounding the Poudre School District Stadium, offering fast lines, clean corners, and great views for fans and photographers. The larger course also allowed for better racing dynamics and a true “crit feel” on a closed, spectator-friendly circuit.
Thursday’s event marked the series’ first race under its new name and venue, following the City of Fort Collins’ decision to no longer permit outside events on the City Streets campus. Race organizers Cole Evans, Rob Howe, and Shane Garland praised the Timnath venue and the community support that made the move possible.

Omnium Standings (After Week One)
With just one race in the books, the overall omnium standings are identical to the Week One results. Points were awarded based on finishing position, and racers must compete in at least three of the four races to be eligible for the $1,000 series prize pool.
The series continues Thursdays through June, alternating course direction each week. Racing starts at 5:30 p.m. with Juniors and wraps up with the A Race at 7:40. Spectators and volunteers are encouraged—bring your cowbells, umbrellas, and community spirit.
