Twenty-eight riders from Northern Colorado made the trip to Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley Campus in Glenwood Springs for the 2025 Colorado High School Cycling League State Championships.

Racing in the Platte Division, our Fort Collins-area high school athletes joined students from across Colorado, as well as South Dakota, Wyoming, and New Mexico, representing the league’s four regions: Platte, Crystal, Yampa, and Piedra. In total, 906 racers competed on the 5.5-mile course over two days.

Championship medals were awarded in Varsity, JV, Sophomore, and Freshman categories for both boys and girls. Conditions were warm and dry, with cool mornings typical of mid-October. The State Championships followed four regular-season races held in Leadville, Steamboat Springs, Eagle, and Cañon City. Emmaline Jarnevich was our top performer with a solid 7th-place finish in the girls’ JV race.

Huge crowds filled the venue all weekend, with a disco theme, music on course, and camping onsite adding to the festive atmosphere. For the first time, the league also hosted a one-lap Coaches Race on Sunday.

“I’m proud of all 33 athletes who qualified for state,” said program manager Andy Clark. “Our riders showed a lot of courage as sickness ran through the team and some couldn’t perform at their best. Teammates supported each other, the vibes were great, and it was a really fun end to a good season.”

A tip of the hat to our seniors who raced their final high school event in Glenwood Springs:
Abe Cooley, Isabel Troxell, Zachary Watkins, Olivia Helgerson, Owen Alexander, Elijah Johnson, Nate Lowe, Lachlan Morrison, and Callen Solley.

Special thanks to SendTown’s Ciclismo Racing staff for their dedication throughout the season. Led by Andy Clark (Program Manager), Lora Lowe (Team Manager / Super Mom), and Zack Woy (Lead Coach), the crew supported roughly 60 riders from the four Fort Collins high schools.

Ciclismo staff included:
Bailey Scanlan, Celeste Cannon, Cole Swanson, Felix Naschold, Jeremy Norris, Justin Spruell, Kellie Kreikemeier, Mick McDill, Mitchell Lunt, Noelle Bauman-Stucky, Shawn Pollock, Suzie Livingston, Tharen Helgerson, and Tristan West.

State championships will move to Durango for 2026.

Greyson Spruell had a strong race after filleting her kneecap earlier in the season.
