A GoFundMe campaign has been setup to assist our own James Bethea after he was severally injured in a head on automobile accident on July 4th. The former Nuke Proof mountain bike pro and bike messenger from Brooklyn NY was returning from Blackhawk Colorado when a driver drifted into his lane and hit is beloved GMC Sierra head on. James was transported to St Anthony’s in Denver where he spent 10 days and underwent 2 surgeries. He was the only occupant of his van on the 45mph stretch of road. James currently races for the 1st City Cycling team and is very active in the Fort Collins cycling community. His major injuries include, closed displaced fracture of left acetabulum, fracture of shaft of left fibula, fracture of distal end of left fibula, closed fracture of pelvis, left shoulder and right foot sprains. James is currently staying in Loveland CO with family.
Unable to work and with a long recovery ahead, James is in need of our support. Tom Carter of YGR’s Wounded Rider Program is working closely with him to assess his needs. The best and easiest way for you to support James would be to donate to his GoFundMe campaign here: https://www.gofundme.com/xpykv-rehabilitation-fund. As of this writing, the campaign was at $7000 with a goal of $25000.
