This past weekend, the short handed Rams cycling team took to Golden for the Lookout Mountain Hill Climb, Campus Street Sprints, and Campus Criterium hosted by School of Mines.
In the hill climb, Greg Seymour took 7th for the A’s one minute behind the winner. In the B’s, Drew Faturos continued to be the team’s strong man taking 9th, followed by Evan Kiesow-Butt and Rees York to round out the top 15. The men’s C team put 2 in the top 10, Clint Sawyer and Andrew Preston, and 2 more to round out the top 15, Parker Buccowich and Tucker Keren, to secure much needed conference omnium points.
Evan Kiesow-Butt took the win in the B’s street sprints Saturday afternoon and took home an apple pie as his prize, needless to say the team ate it before he had a chance.
In the challenging Sunday criterium, Greg Seymour again found form to be the lone ram finisher in the A’s. More than half of the field DNF’d on a course that saw multiple crashes and a course redesign mid race. In the B’s, Drew Faturos was caught between the break and the pack for the final 6 laps to take 4th, Rees York managed 11th in another field that saw many DNF’s. Clint Sawyer again showed promise taking 7th in the C’s crit as he continues his run to take the C season omnium. In the women’s A crit, Maddy Tuggle and Chrissy Esposito rounded out the top 10 in a field dominated by CU and CMU.
Up next is the CSU oval criterium where the Rams will look to dominate their home course in every category!
