Chimney Hollow Open Space (CHOS) is a Larimer County-managed Open Space spanning 1,847 acres, located five miles southwest of Loveland. Nestled alongside the soon-to-be-completed 760-acre Chimney Hollow Reservoir—smaller in comparison to the nearby 1,100-acre Carter Lake—CHOS offers a diverse landscape of rolling hills, lush vegetation, and scenic water views. The open space is set to feature a 10-12 mile trail system connecting to Carter Lake Open Space (1000 acres) and will open to the public in 2027.

The Colorado cycling community is reeling from another death last week. Michael 'Mike' McGuinn, a longtime USAC race official, was killed in an automobile crash on I25 near Loveland on Saturday morning. Mike was on his way to work the Frostbite Time Trial near Wellington, as he had done so many times during his roughly 20-year career as a USAC official.

The NoCo Gravel Stage Race is back for 2025. The first stage starts on April 1st with a new route dropping every month through August.

154 racers kicked off their road season with the Frostbite Time Trial in Wellington. The race is hosted by Team Rio Grande Racing and sanctioned by USA Cycling. The 11 mile out and back course featured categories for Aero, Eddy Merckx, tandem and collegiate teams.

At roughly 6:45 PM tonight (03/07/2025) and after hours of heart-wrenching victim impact statements, Judge Ecton handed down his sentence to Amy Weiss with regard to the death of 10-year-old Ollie Stratton.

It's with great sadness that I pass on the news that our friend Chris 'CJ' Johnson passed away on March 5th in his adopted home of Honolulu, Hawaii. CJ was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer, on February 13th, 2025.

Mountain biking enthusiasts in Fort Collins are gearing up for an exciting evening as the RITUAL Mountain Bike Film Tour, presented by Shimano and powered by Outside, makes its way to The Lyric on April 15th. This national film tour showcases the world of mountain biking through breathtaking cinematography, compelling stories, and the talents of some of the sport’s most impressive athletes.

Last year HART Cycling earned several international podiums, top 10 finishes at National Championships, a top 5 in a Pan-American Championship race, and represented the USA and our sponsors in four World Cup races. From chasing Olympic Champions to battling with Lifetime Grand Prix athletes to coaching junior riders through tricky championship courses, HART Cycling had a blast!
This year HART Cycling is looking for podiums and wins in our favorite national and international events. Outside the race-tape, HART Cycling is doubling down on our mission to see people healthy and active.

CSU Cycling will host a race course recon ride on Saturday, March 1st. The ride will allow the community to preview the CSU Criterium course and the Cobb Lake Circuit Race course, which is usually closed to the public.

Registration is open for Sendtown's Spring mountain unicycle program. Riders can sign up for one or two days per week. The program runs from March 31st through May 17th. $200 for both days (Monday and Saturday). $100 for one day (either Monday or Saturday).
