We are sad to announce that Fort Collins Police services reported the second cyclist death in Larimer County in the past month on Wednesday. The cyclist, whose identity has not been released died at the scene of the crash.  Press Release from the Fort Collins Police Services:
On June 30, 2021 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Fort Collins Police Services responded to a report of a truck versus bicycle collision at the intersection of Jerome Street and Vine Drive. A 2014 Ram 2500 pickup truck hauling a trailer was traveling west on Vine Drive. A bicyclist was traveling south on Jerome Street, turned right onto Vine Drive, and collided with the passenger side of the truck. The adult male cyclist was fatally injured and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.The FCPS C.R.A.S.H. (Collision Response and Scene Handling) team responded to investigate. Vine Drive was closed from College Avenue to Linden Street for approximately 4.5 hours while officers processed the scene. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the cyclist’s identity and cause and manner of death at a later time.“This is a tragic situation that forever changed the lives of all involved,” said Sgt. Mike Avrech, who leads the Traffic Unit. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted by this loss of life.”The investigation is ongoing.
