The Power Trail is once again closed between Keenland Drive and East Trilby Road to allow crews to install the Siphon Pedestrian Overpass, which will connect the Power Trail to the Mail Creek Trail over the Union Pacific Railroad.

The trail will reopen once the overpass project is complete, with project completion expected in December 2025. During the closure, trail users should follow the posted detour between Keenland Drive and the intersection of Southridge Greens Boulevard and East Trilby Road. Map below.

The new overpass will provide a key connection for southeast Fort Collins, an area that has historically lacked access to the rest of the city’s trail network. The Siphon Pedestrian Overpass will serve as a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks between Harmony Road and Trilby Road.

The project responds to community demand from nearby neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. Once complete, the bridge will create a safe crossing and link in the middle of what is currently a two-mile gap in trail connectivity between Harmony and Trilby.

The Mail Creek Trail, which opened in 2024, extends from the intersection of Zephyr and Tilden to the future site of the overpass. The trail runs behind Bacon Elementary School and the city’s new Schoolside Park (opening in 2025) and passes beneath Timberline Road to connect safely with the Power Trail.

The Power Trail is one of Fort Collins’ primary north-south routes, linking the Spring Creek Trail on the north end (near Prospect and Timberline) to the City of Loveland’s trail system on the south end (near Carpenter and Lemay).
