It has been a bittersweet week for the Fort Collins cycling community. While the summer cycling season finally seemed to hit its stride with warmer weather and an abundance of cycling events, we learned that one of our fellow riders lost his life. James Gregg died while descending Stadium Hill on Tuesday morning, a descent every one of us has done countless times. While we grieve for his family, we also remember that James died doing what he loved, what we all love. We can take solace in the fact that he died cruising down one of our favorite descents with the cool Colorado air in his face and a beautiful sunrise off his 3 o’clock. We can take solace in the fact that no one was at fault, not James, not a distracted driver, not a madman with a gun.  It was simply his time to go. I didn’t know James, and I don’t know his family, but I hope they realize he died a happy man.

What to say about Whitney and Zack Allison with the Bike Sports, Gravel Graceland and FoCo Fondo brands.... The professional gravel racers have been working hard to build their empire while simultaneously lifting the entire Northern Colorado Cycling scene. Their efforts to make cycling and especially gravel riding accessible and welcoming to everyone should be embraced and replicated at events across the country. I'm continually in awe of their positive energy and entrepreneurial spirit.…
