This week on Ride Review we take a look at our local crit specialist, Mel Beale’s, 2018 Specialized Allez. Mel races professionally for LA Sweat and on the CSU Rams Cycling Team. The 25 year old is getting her Masters in Health and Exercise Science and will most likely get her PhD in Toxicology/Nutrition/Molecular biology at CSU.

One of the most unique things you’ll notice about this professional cyclist’s bike is that it is make out of aluminum (gasp!).  Both Specialized and Cannondale have been reinvesting in alloy frames, a more affordable alternative to carbon. New technology and welding techniques have supposedly  brought the ride quality on par to carbon.

Mel is off to the San Rafael Twilight on 07/28 and back for her “hometown” race  in  Littleton on August 4th.
