tacksPhoto by Michael ChristopherThe first race of the 2016 season was on Saturday just North of Fort Collins.  Despite a great turnout and beautiful weather, the season go off to a rough start with the Frostbite Time Trial. During the course of the day, someone spread bulletin board tacks across the road over multiple passes. Volunteers spent the day picking up hundreds if not thousands of tacks.  They would clear and area only to learn more tacks had been dumped. Despite their best efforts several riders fell victim to the vandalism and either DNF’d or finished on soft tires.

There were reports of a red pickup with Kansas plates making several laps of the course and ‘rolling coal’ on several riders and a black pickup rolling coal through the start finish area. Race officials will be meeting with the Colorado State Patrol and the Larimer County Sheriff to discuss the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Don Haywood at: frostbitett@yahoo.com.
