PSD fifth grade teacher, cyclist, and photographer Tom Sweeney has wrapped up his 14th year of riding to school every single day. Since January 18, 2012, he hasn’t missed a bike commute to school, documenting life around Fort Collins through photos taken along the way.

To close out the 2025/26 school year, Tom once again put together his annual slideshow featuring favorite images from the year, set to music and shared us. While his direct commute from west Fort Collins to Bennett Elementary is only about 3.5 miles, his rides often stretch far beyond that, heading toward Loveland, Wellington, the dams, or up Rist Canyon before or after school.

Music:

  • “Río De Enero” by La Bien Querida
  • “The Fold” by Ivan & Alyosha

If you’re interested in more of Tom’s work, check out his book Lisbon to Shanghai in Four Summers, which chronicles a multi-year bike journey across the globe.
