Trail Building School

Join the UW Outdoor Program, the Wyoming Conservation Corps, and Scott Linnenburger (Board member of American Trails, and member of the Professional Trailbuilders Association) for an intensive 2-day trail building school (TBS). Scott has extensive experience in teaching sustainable trail design and maintenance, and runs a private trail building consulting and professional services firm based out of Boulder, CO. The focus of the TBS will be on teaching participants how to develop and maintain sustainable trails. Both classroom and field-based experiences will be utilized. The use of a variety of trail tools will be highlighted, in addition to tool and trail-work safety. By the end of the program, participants should feel comfortable maintaining sustainable local trails and leading others in performing trail work. Participants must have closed-toed shoes, long pants, long-sleeved shirts, work gloves and eye protection. Participants should bring two-liters of water and a lunch each day. Trail tools and eye protection will be provided. Participants are encouraged to carpool; however, there will be a few spots in a UW vehicle for those without transportation. Limit: 20 participants. The TBS is open to the public.

Dates/Times: Saturday & Sunday, May 20-21, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day

Location: Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center classroom, Rm. 115 (enter through the west doors of Half Acre only)

He's one of my favorite nemeses on Tuesday nights. I've yet to beat the PR I set while chasing him down Kimmons way back during a Lory Mountain Bike Challenge race. He's a longtime member of the Northern Colorado…
