We rounded up some information on the Fort Collins based Caveworks RIVET indoor bike for you. Former Fort Collins resident/cyclist Jason Haney is the CEO and founder. Anthony Lenz, Fort Collins cyclist/resident, is President and co-designer.
The RIVET is designed specifically for indoor use with thru-axle direct-drive smart trainers, and compatible with fork mounted accessories like the Wahoo Kickr Climb. It is purpose-built: affordable, durable, robust to sweat corrosion, mechanically efficient, easy to store, and adjustable to multiple users.

Why?
Why would anyone spend good money on such a thing? The Caveworks RIVET solves several problems for people who choose to ride indoors on the regular.
- It saves your expensive outdoor bike from the rigors of indoor riding- mainly the corrosive effects of sweat and the torquing on a bike that is in a fixed position.
- It saves you from getting your outdoor bike on and off the indoor trainer.
- It allows for easy adjustability for indoor riders that require different bike sizes. It will fit riders between approximately 4’10” up to 6’6”.
The Vision Behind RIVET
The idea for the RIVET began taking shape in 2019 when Jason Haney found himself training indoors more frequently due to time constraints and unpredictable weather. His go-to bike at the time was a custom steel gravel bike, and he quickly realized that traditional bikes weren’t optimized for indoor training.
Haney identified three key areas that needed improvement:
- Sweat Corrosion – Stationary riding leads to excessive sweat pooling on the bike, which can damage frames and components.
- Ride Feel & Power Transfer – Traditional bikes flex under high power output, potentially absorbing energy instead of efficiently transferring it to the trainer.
- Convenience & Accessibility – Setting up a bike on a trainer can be time-consuming, making spontaneous rides less feasible.
Recognizing that other cyclists likely faced these same issues, Haney saw an opportunity to develop a bike specifically for indoor use.
Building the RIVET
Haney reached out to longtime friend and former colleague Anthony Lenz, who had stepped away from the cycling industry for nearly a decade. Their shared history—starting at FullCycle in Fort Collins—made for a strong partnership. Lenz’s background in customer relations, product sourcing, and manufacturing logistics helped bring RIVET to life. He officially joined Caveworks as President in October 2023.
The first prototype of the RIVET was developed in mid-2019, with manufacturing handled by a reputable frame builder in Mexico. Over time, key refinements were made to improve adjustability and performance. Notable updates from the prototype to the production model include:
- A steeper seat tube angle to increase saddle adjustability.
- A redesigned stem assembly with an additional securing bolt and thicker tubing for greater stiffness and ride quality.
The Name Behind the Brand
The name Caveworks is a nod to the “pain cave,” the dedicated indoor training space for many cyclists. RIVET holds dual meaning:
- A rivet is a fastener, symbolizing the bike’s stationary yet sturdy nature.
- The phrase “on the rivet” describes a cyclist pushing their limits—a fitting metaphor for intense indoor training sessions.
