Fort Collins, Colorado – January 29, 2014 – Fort Follies Cycling Club anticipates continued growth with the support of continued partnerships from 2013 and additional exciting partnerships with Eye Center of Northern Colorado, People for Bikes and Skratch Labs in 2014.
The Fort Follies found success in their first year attracting upwards of 45 members and hosting events such as a Sadie Hawkins Dance Fundraiser at Road 34 in the spring, co-hosting the City Street Criteriums with First City Cycling Team, and running the Fort Follies Grand Prix at Stage 6 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge which attracted 45 of the top professional women from the U.S., Canada, and New Zealand.
The Fort Follies anticipates moderate growth of their women-focused group which caters to
women of all levels and disciplines with the goal of reducing barriers for women to get on bikes
and providing them with resources to race. They are excited to continue working with excellent
companies such as Full Cycle, Pactimo, State Wheels, Elan Yoga & Fitness, SRAM, Source
Endurance, Syntace, and SQ Labs. In addition, new partnerships with Eye Center of Northern
Colorado, Skratch Labs and People for Bikes will make the 2014 season even more spectacular
for the Fort Follies.
Notable events for 2014 include the Sunday Fort Follies ride leaving at 10am from Full Cycle,
weather dependent, a monthly open newbie ride on the first Sunday of every month, also
leaving at 10am from Full Cycle, and seasonal lady-focused skills clinics to offer a welcoming
environment to improve bike skills in various disciplines- road, mountain, cyclocross, and track.
Co-founder Christi Leong continues to lead the Fort Follies in year two of her presidency with
cyclocross and mountain bike star Suzie Livingston as Vice President. They are helped by a
range of very generous and talented Fort Follies who are excited to see what 2014 brings!
