After 12 years in the pro peloton, former Fort Collins resident, Meredith Miller is retiring from professional cycling. The former road race National Champion and Team Tibco team captain found further success racing cyclocross late in her carreer. Most notably finshing 2nd in 2009 and 3rd in 2014 at Cross Nationals.
According to Miller’s personal blog she’ll still be in the industry as she’ll be writing web content and building sponsor relationships for the ORICA-GreenEDGE cycling teams.
While Miller’s retirement from professional road racing seems certain, her permanent retirement from cyclocross seems less so. “As I settle into a groove and get a better sense of what my next career looks like, I can make a decision on whether I will or will not race ‘cross. Racing at the local level is highly likely. Racing at the national level might even be possible. Racing at the world level is much more in doubt. Whatever happens, stepping away completely is highly unlikely.” she writes. I would say that local women’s racing just got a tad tougher.
