The second year of the MyCycle program is in the books (fka Wish For Wheels Fort Collins), and once again Fort Collins cyclists stepped up in a big way through the Team Challenge. Clubs and teams across town competed to see who could fund the most bikes and helmets for PSD’s Title 1 schools, raising a combined $23,230—enough to cover more than 120 bikes and helmets.

Team B.O.B. came out on top in the most bikes funded competition, raising $4,585 (25 bikes and helmets), followed by Northern Colorado Grassroots Riders with $3,600 (20 bikes and helmets), and Breakaway Cycles with $2,620 (15 bikes and helmets). On the roster percentage side of the challenge, which measured bikes funded versus number of team members, Breakaway Cycles took the win with 64 percent of its roster funding a bike and helmet.

The MyCycle program, led by Bike Fort Collins with support from YGR and Scheels Johnstown, expanded again this fall. Every second grader at PSD’s Title 1 schools received a brand-new bike and helmet, and for the first time, a pilot program at Putnam Elementary outfitted every 5th grader as well.

In total, 266 bikes were distributed: 234 were 20-inch models and 32 were 24-inch. Nearly 200 volunteers helped transport, assemble, and deliver the bikes, allowing students to ride their new wheels home the very same day.

Hundreds of kids gained not just bikes, but the freedom, confidence, and opportunity they bring. Sponsors including VanMeveren Law Group, Dohn Construction, Houska Automotive, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Experience Plus!, Cushman & Wakefield, Platte River Power Authority, New Belgium Brewing, and the Trent Newcomer Donor Advised Fund made the effort possible.

Thanks to everyone who donated, volunteered, or cheered on a team in the Challenge. MyCycle is more than just a bike giveaway—it is building a culture of equity, access, and lifelong riding in Fort Collins.

Let’s do it again next year!
