Original Story 02/20/2026:
I’m sad to report that a cyclist was found deceased in Old Town this morning.
Fort Collins Police Services responded to a report of an individual down near a bicycle at the intersection of Canyon Avenue, Magnolia Street, and Sherwood Street. The location is a five-way intersection.
The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe the incident involved a single bicyclist. There is no indication that a motor vehicle was involved.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities are examining whether speed or a medical event may have been factors.
Poudre Fire Authority, Fort Collins Police Services, and UCHealth ambulance personnel responded.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
This is a developing story. I’ll post updates here when I have them.
Once again, our thoughts are with the cyclist’s friends and family.
