Frostbite Time Trial This Weekend

The Colorado USAC road season kicks off this weekend with the Frostbite Time Trials just North of Fort Collins. The races take place on Saturday and registration closes tonight!

Arnold and Mannion Join USA Cycling

USA cycling announced the additions of former professional cyclists and Fort Collins residents Kristen Arnold and Gavin Mannion to its Road Development staff.  Arnold will take on the role of Women’s Development Road Director while Mannion will be the new Junior Men's Road Director.

Power Trail Crossing Plans

The city of Fort Collins confirmed that they are moving forward with plans for a grade-separated crossing at the intersection of the Power Trail and Harmony Road.  This bike/ped crossing has been a high-priority item for the city but funding for the project has been hard to come by.  In January of this year, the city was awarded a $2.7 million grant through the Federal Highway Administration Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program but they're still $3 million dollars away from being fully funded

Bicycle Colorado -New Membership Model with USA Cycling

Bicycle Colorado announced a simpler and less expensive racer licensing model for Colorado cyclists on Thursday. According to BC the new partnership with USA Cycling will save racers time and $40.00 annually. BC absorbed Colorado Cycling aka the Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado in December of 2022.

Poudre River Trail Nears Completion

I took the opportunity to reach out to Fort Collins Parks Planning and Development and Larimer County Natural resources to find out the status of the long-awaited Poudre River Trail. Once complete, the PRT will be over 40 miles in length (one way), from Bellvue, north of Fort Collins, to Island Grove Park in Greeley. It's taken 40 years to get to this point.

City Releases Second Hughes Survey

The city of Fort Collins recently released a second survey regarding the Hughes property's future and the results from the first survey.
In the previous survey, which had 2647 replies and is 263 pages long, the term 'bike' was mentioned 1332 times, the term 'valm' (as in Valmont) was mentioned 226 times, and the term 'cycl' as in bicycle, cyclists, cycling, cyclocross...) was mentioned 183 times

Firestone Approves Bike Park

According to the Longmont Times-Call newspaper, Firestone Colorado will be building a 1.29-acre bike park with a price not-to-exceed $573,931 at the southwest corner of Mountain Shadows Park. The park is being designed and constructed by the Missouri-based American Ramp Company and will include an asphalt pump track and jump lines.  Construction is scheduled to begin this spring, and the project has a target completion date of late summer or early fall.

Second Cyclist Killed in Two Days

Fort Collins Police Services announced the death of a second cyclist in as many days here in Fort Collins. Today's collision took place at the intersection of Harmony Road and McMurry Ave at approximately 11:39 am Monday, February 13th.  This is near the proposed location of a grade-separated crossing (tunnel or bridge) intended to join the Power Line Trail safely.

2023 Transportation Projects Fair

FC Moves will be hosting a project fair on the 23rd of February. Residences will have the opportunity to see what transportation-related projects are coming up in the near future in and around Fort Collins. In my opinion, a couple of things of note are; CSU transportation's Dixon Canal, Larimer Ditch and Front Range Trail projects and the Power Trail at Harmony Rd. grade-separated crossing & Siphon and Union Pacific overpass.

Cyclist Killed on Lemay Ave

I'm sad to report that a male cyclist was killed today, February 12th, according to a Fort Collins Police Services press release.  The crash happened at the intersection of Lemay Ave and Centennial Rd at approximately 12:51 p.m. As of Sunday evening, the cyclist's identity had not been released. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by the crash. 

Berthoud Bike Park Opens

According to the Loveland Reporter Herald construction has started on Berthoud's 24-acre, $2.2 million bike park. The park will be located inside the 86-acre Richardson Park, at the north end of Meadowlark Drive.
