The Dirt Darlings, a New Women’s Cycling Club

As some of you may have heard, there's a new women's cycling club (inclusive of trans, femme, two spirit people) in town called the Dirt Darlings. YGR had a quick virtual sit down with some of the founding members to see what the skinny was with the group.

2022 Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships

Our CSU Rams Cycling Team took 2nd in the Omnium Overall at Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals this past weekend. The team competed in Short Track, Cross Country, Dual Slalom, Downhill, and the Team Relay at Purgatory Ski Resort outside Durango, CO. Ross Soriano came home with a stars and stripes jersey after winning the Dual Slalom with teammate George Poggmeyer just behind him in second.

Send Town Unicycle Program- Fall 2022

Registration is OPEN for Send Town's Fall Unicycle Program.
This program introduces children and adults, alike, to unicycling and several unicycling disciplines recognized by the International Unicycling Federation (IUF) and the Unicycle Society of America (USA).
All abilities are welcome, including those with zero unicycling experience. New riders will be instructed in the fundamentals — riding, turning, and free mounting and refining those skills through fun and engaging activities.

Wish for Wheels FoCo 2022

This fall, Bike Fort Collins, in partnership with peer organization, Wish For Wheels, has a goal to bring a new bike and helmet to every second-grader in Poudre School District’s Title 1 schools as part of the 3rd Annual Wish for Wheels FoCo program, and the community’s support is needed to make it happen. Each new bike and helmet has a program cost of $150 and can be funded individually, or by businesses or organizations at any quantity.

NoCo Riders Set National TT Records

Fort Collins had three racers head down to the Paula Higgins Memorial Record Challenge in Moriarty, NM this past weekend. Both Matt Skrdla and Jim Dickerson set new National Records in the 40k and 20k distances.

NoCo Highschool MTB League Race Results- Week 1 2022

The Colorado High School Mountain Bike League kicked off this weekend in Leadville with the Cloud City Challenge. Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming had dozens of kids racing in the Platte Conference (one of four state conferences). Fort Collins area kids raced either independently or with Rocky Mountain High School, Fossil Ridge High School, Fort Collins High School, and Horsetooth Composite.

Jay Zorn’s Fifty50Fifty Challenge

Fort Collins ex-patriot, Jay Zorn is taking on the ambitious challenge of riding 50 miles, in 50 states in 50 days in his 50th year.  The #50fity50 ride starts in Anchorage, AK tomorrow, September 1st. After those first solo 50 miles, Jay will hop a flight to Seattle where he'll begin to ride all of the lower 48 states.  On October 19th with only one state remaining, he'll fly to Maui to finish the challenge atop Haleakala, which holds the world record for climbing to the highest elevation in the shortest distance of 35 miles.
