Bender Bicycle Co Featured on The Radavist, The Gravel Cyclist

Local frame builder Will Bender of Bender Bicycle Company has been getting some great national exposure as of late. Josh Weinberg with the Radavist and JOM with the Gravel Cyclist were both in town for the FoCo Fondo and paid Will's shop a visit.  Both JOM and Josh highlight Will's emersion into frame building, his ever-expanding shop, sweetass 1995 HiAce Super Custom and recent builds. I really like that orange gravel rig.

Canyon Bikes Road and Gravel Group Rides

Canyon Bikes is hosting two road/gravel group rides here in Fort Collins. This is also a demo bike event but it appears that all the bikes are already reserved. 

Fossil Creek Path and 38E Project Paused

I'm happy to announce that changes planned for the connector path between Fossil Creek path and Country Road 38E (Harmony Road) have been paused. The city and county will revisit the plans at a future date as they work to improve cyclist, pedestrian, and driver safety along the Harmony Road corridor. YGR went on record with Fort Collins Parks Planning and Development opposing these changes for safety reasons and is grateful that they decided to pause the project.

Crazy Joe Cross returns to Bush Acres every Tuesday in September. Big thanks to Ronny and Alli Bush for allowing us to come out and play again this year.

Zeinab’s Journey: First Afghan Ironwoman

On Thursday, August 18th, 2022, the Fort Follies will be hosting a screening of Free to Run and will have a Q & A with one of the film's athletes.
A Fulbright Scholar at CSU, Zeinab is a Fort Follies scholarship recipient that joined the team for the 2022 season. She is the first Afghan woman triathlete who has completed an Ironman 70.3 race, the Ironman 70.3 Dubai in 2019. Her journey from Afghanistan to the US on August 16, 2021, just one day after the Taliban takeover, is featured in a 30 minute long documentary that is a collaboration between the North Face and Free To Run.

Breck Epic

NoCo Riders Take on the 2022 Breck Epic

Northern Colorado has eight riders taking on the Breck Epic Stage race this week. Dwight Hall and Steve Stefko won stage one in the 100+ combined age group. They had a 30 min lead going into stage two, but reports from the course say they've suffered a broken chain and have lost 45-50 mins but are again underway.

The Overland Mountain Bike Association is hosting a screening of Biketown on Monday, August 15th, 2022 at Road34. More than any other trail users, mountain bikers continue to face challenges to access throughout the country. That's no different here in Fort Collins or across the Front Range of Colorado. 'Biketown' is a story that explores several communities and their struggles that ultimately inspired collaboration around shared visions and goals, and how mountain biking is now a thriving multi-generational sport.

Brian Co of Veloworthy came to Fort Collins to check out the FoCo Fondo. He even managed to get his Tundra stuck in one of our ditches.

After winning the Time Trial Jim Dickerson took 4th in the road race- 65-69AG.

2022 NoCo Masters Road Nationals Results

Northern Colorado had a small but strong contingent of racers in Albuquerque for Masters Road Race Nationals last week. They came home with five medals including one National Champion. 

2022 City Street Crits Results- Week Six

And that's a wrap, the City Streets Crits are done for the 2022 season. Thanks to everyone that raced and volunteered to make it happen especially Race Director Rob Howe.  Fort Collins grassroots racing continues with the YGR Time Trials in August and Send Town Cyclocross in October.

2022 NoCo Mountain Bike Nationals Results

Northern Colorado racers had a solid week of racing at Mountain Bike Nationals in Winter Park between July 18th and 24th. They came home with 8 medals including one National Champion. Congrats to Gunner Johnson on his national championship race.

2022 City Street Crits Results- Week Five

Here are the results from week five of the City Streets Criterium Series. Tomorrow is the final week of racing in the City Streets Criterium Series. If you haven't had a chance to check out the races, I highly recommend that you head down tomorrow. There are races for all ages and abilities. There will be separate results and primes for female racers. $15 on site, cash or card.
