Jay Zorn’s Fifty50Fifty Challenge

Fort Collins ex-patriot, Jay Zorn is taking on the ambitious challenge of riding 50 miles, in 50 states in 50 days in his 50th year.  The #50fity50 ride starts in Anchorage, AK tomorrow, September 1st. After those first solo 50 miles, Jay will hop a flight to Seattle where he'll begin to ride all of the lower 48 states.  On October 19th with only one state remaining, he'll fly to Maui to finish the challenge atop Haleakala, which holds the world record for climbing to the highest elevation in the shortest distance of 35 miles.

Upcoming Gravel Events

It’s refreshing to see the gravel event calendar going so late into September and even October here in Colorado. For various reasons, this was something the road scene always screwed up. Racing would start in March, with half the races being canceled due to crappy weather, and we’d be done by early August when it’s finally getting really nice out. It looks like gravel event promoters have taken note and are keeping the stoke level high well into the Fall.

Well, That Escalated Quickly

Bender Bicycle Co Featured on The Radavist, The Gravel Cyclist

Local frame builder Will Bender of Bender Bicycle Company has been getting some great national exposure as of late. Josh Weinberg with the Radavist and JOM with the Gravel Cyclist were both in town for the FoCo Fondo and paid Will's shop a visit.  Both JOM and Josh highlight Will's emersion into frame building, his ever-expanding shop, sweetass 1995 HiAce Super Custom and recent builds. I really like that orange gravel rig.

Fossil Creek Path and 38E Project Paused

I'm happy to announce that changes planned for the connector path between Fossil Creek path and Country Road 38E (Harmony Road) have been paused. The city and county will revisit the plans at a future date as they work to improve cyclist, pedestrian, and driver safety along the Harmony Road corridor. YGR went on record with Fort Collins Parks Planning and Development opposing these changes for safety reasons and is grateful that they decided to pause the project.
