Ciclismo Racing Announces 2024 Programs and Camps
Ciclismo Coaching released its youth mountain bike programming and camp schedule for 2024. This season will include a Spring Program, Summer Program, High School Program, and a Summer UCI Race Support Program. Ciclismo Coaching head coach and owner Andy Clark also announced the addition of three introduction to mountain biking summer camps for high school girls, high school boys, and middle schoolers.

Overland to Hire Trail Operations Manager
Overland Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) is set to hire a Trail Operations Manager. This will be a full-time salaried position averaging 40 hours/wk and likely have a pay range of $48,000-60,000 annually. Full description below.

RioSwap 2024
What’s up with RioSwap, you ask? Well, it’s coming up on Sunday, February 25th from 4-7pm in Rio’s Agave Room. Mike Weber with Keller Williams is still sponsoring the event. Vendor tables are still $25.00. You’ll notice a slightly condensed schedule this year (3hrs instead of 4) and sadly, there might be a $5.00 admission. I’ve been resistant to charging for the event for years, but I think the time has come. Sorry about that.

cyclist-owned coffee shop set to open
Construction is underway on a new cyclist-owned coffee shop on the Mason Trail. Hannah Norris plans to open Arboretum Coffee in the old My Empanadas space at the Mason Trail and Prospect Road intersection. Arboretum isn’t just another coffee shop; the nonprofit’s mission is to “use excellent coffee and goods to cultivate loving, flourishing communities with refugee youth, families, and other immigrants in a dignified and restful space that enables each person to thrive holistically.” Arboretum also features a standup espresso bar, discounts for those who ride or take mass transit, and ethically sourced beans.

Niner Reorganization in the Works
United Wheels, owners of Niner Bikes, announced yesterday that the brand's operations may move to the parent company's headquarters in Miamisburg, Ohio, next fall. An anonymous Niner employee clarified that the brand's Sharp Point Drive lease is up in September and market conditions, potential retail space, and staff size will ultimately dictate what Niner's Fort Collins footprint will look like at that time. The goal is to keep as much of a presence in Fort Collins as possible but what that looks like remains to be determined.

NoCo Cyclocross Nationals Roster and Results
Cyclocross Nationals Championships returned to Louisville, Kentucky, for 2023. Northern Colorado has 11 riders racing 15 times. They'll be joining 1438 other competitors at Joe Creason Park December 5th-10th. Our roster is below and stay tuned for results as they come in.

NoCo SoWyo 2023 Cyclocross State Championships Results
Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming racers had a strong showing at the Colorado State Cyclocross Championships in Golden last weekend. Nick Carter, Steven Stefko and Brannan Fix came home as champions, while JJ Laughon and Isabel Naschold got on the podiums in their respective categories.

Medina Alert Issued for Greeley Hit and Run
A Medina Alert has been issued after a weekend hit and run in Greeley. The Greeley Police Department is looking for a black 2017-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee with front-end damage.

SOAPSTONE AND RED MOUNTAIN CLOSE FOR THE SEASON
Both Soapstone Prairie Natural Area and Red Mountain Open Space have closed for the season. Soapstone, managed by Fort Collins Natural Areas and Red Mountain, managed by Larimer County Natural Resources, close annually from Dec 1st until March 1st due to "sensitive wintering range for large mammals and low recreational opportunities."

CBS Colorado’s Bike Park Coverage
On Sunday, CBS Colorado sent reporter Dillon Thomas out to learn more about the community push to bring a bike park to Fort Collins. At the 1/2 acre Spring Canyon Skills Park, Dillon was greeted by roughly 75 riders of all ages and abilities riding the pump track, drops, and other beginner-level features. The chaotic scene showed both the overwhelming appetite for a bike park and the shortcomings of the current park facilities.

Cross of the North 2023 Results & Photos
Colorado's premiere cyclocross weekend took place this past Saturday and Sunday on the New Belgium Brewing campus. The two-day cyclocross festival used much of the Sendtown Dirt Pile race course that took place this Fall. The 11th edition of COTN had 421 racers on Saturday and 350 on Sunday, for a total of 771. Roughly 170 of those racers were from the Northern Colorado/Southern Wyoming area. Thanks to all the volunteers who make this race happen every year.
