Update – 09/26/2025
Construction on the final mile of the Poudre River Trail has begun. Crews started moving dirt Monday morning on the stretch between South Timnath and North Windsor. The scope of work includes roughly one mile of concrete path and a bridge over the Greeley #2 Canal.
Zac Wiebe, Planning & Natural Resource Manager for Larimer County Department of Natural Resources, confirmed crews had started the final leg but would not commit to when they plan to finish, when the bridge would be set, or when a ribbon cutting would take place. It has been a long process with many setbacks, so he is understandably reluctant to provide a completion date.
More information will likely be revealed at the Poudre River Pub Talk at Odell Brewing on October 2, where Zac and others will discuss the project.
Thanks to James Steven for the heads-up on this.

June 2025 Update
The long-awaited final link in the Poudre River Trail is one step closer to becoming reality. According to Zac Wiebe with Larimer County Natural Resources, CDOT has issued the notice to proceed to bid, clearing the way for construction to begin as soon as this summer. The project is expected to wrap up after the 2025 irrigation season, when the bridge over the Greeley #2 Canal is installed. The final section of the trail is roughly one mile long and will close the last gap in the 40+ mile Poudre River Trail, finally connecting Timnath to Windsor. Once complete, trail users will be able to travel uninterrupted from Bellvue, through Fort Collins, Timnath, Windsor, and all the way to Greeley. This has been a decades-in-the-making project, with the final connection delayed in part due to the time it took to secure easement approval from a private landowner. With that hurdle now cleared and bidding set to begin, the finish line is finally in sight. In a related effort, new wayfinding signs are being installed along the Poudre River Trail corridor. The signage project is being led by the Town of Windsor, in partnership with Larimer County, Greeley, and Timnath, and is funded to improve navigation for trail users along the entire route from I-25 through Greeley. Stay tuned to Your Group Ride for further updates as the project progresses.
